Question: How does job selection in the AF work?
My recruiter told me that at MEPS I will have to pick five jobs? And then he said I will have to wait for one of the jobs to open and then I go in with that job. I dont know if he is bending the truth or not. I want to go in as Tactical A/C maintenance, “Crew Chief”. which he told me this job is in high demand. Also how is the tech school for that job, is working on planes really complicated, and i know about the long hours and the crappy work environment.
I took the ASVAB and my recruiter said I qualify for every job.

You will be tested and the Air Force will decide if you have the aptitude for your choice. You may end up testing higher in another field which will open up alternatives. You don’t always get what you want.
